The Broken Hill City Art Gallery is the oldest regional art gallery in New South Wales and recently reopened after a $1.7 million renovation of its historic home: Sully's Emporium, a former hardware store. The original gallery opened in 1904 at the city's Technical College with the legacy of three artworks by George McCulloch, one of the founders of BHP's Seven Syndicate.

An art gallery, goldsmith and chocolate factory rolled into one, the Silver City Mint and Art Center has a lot to offer. The main attraction of this center in Broken Hill is The Big Picture, a 100 m long and up to 12 m high work of art with 100,000 salt bushes, 20,000 trees, 20,000 small stones, 1,000 large stones, 3,000 clouds, 1,500 hills and 12 sculptures. It is the work of local artist Peter Anderson (Ando) and is believed to be the world's largest acrylic painting on canvas by a single ar
