Sydney breweries

There are simply too many breweries in Sydney to recommend. Beer is one of Australia’s favourite past times, and Sydney nails it when it comes to providing a cold one on practically every street corner. You can get a beer at any pub, bar or club, but a brewery provides the personability that these places don’t. Sydney’s breweries allow for something unique, rather than something found on every tap.

The Inner West has claimed as the craft beer capital of Sydney, and this is only supported by the Inner West Ale Trail, a five-kilometre trail of just under 20 breweries. Sauce Brewing Co. and Wayward Brewing are popular spots here, but Young Henry’s is the pioneer. Brewing since 2012, they proudly brew easy-drinking staples alongside what they like to call ‘B-sides,’ like Tiramisu White Stout and Wattleseed and Blood Orange Double IPA. Their collaborations only add to their prowess, including the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney Fringe, and the Foo Fighters for their 2018 tour.

South of Sydney you’ll find two breweries worth the travel, and close enough to hop between when you’re done at one. Shark Island Brewing Company in Kirrawee is designed for surfers coming off the Cronulla beaches, so definitely plan to give it a visit after a long day sunbathing. Food trucks are weekend staples, as well as salsa dancing lessons on Sundays if you’re willing to give it a go. A short distance away is the equally popular Sunday Road Brewing. Their core beer range has been awarded time and time again, with bookings recommended for their small taproom so you don’t miss out.

Sydney’s oldest neighbourhood champions Australia’s favourite tradition with their different brewery options. The Rocks are home to the oldest pub brewery in Sydney, also, Lord Nelson Brewery. Their beers are all natural, with no additives or preservatives, so this brewery is home for the pure beer lover. Endeavour Tap Rooms is a brewery, bar and kitchen in The Rocks, with twelve different brews on tap to try. The food is awesome, too, seafood and smoked meats the highlight to eat on the outdoor cobblestone seating.
