Located five minutes away from Hobart on the foothills of Mount Wellington, Cascade Brewery was established in 1824 and is the oldest operating historic brewery in Australia. They offer a wide range of tours such as The Brewery Tours, The Cascade Story Tour and Cascade’s Beer School. This is where visitors can discover more about Cascade Brewery’s history, learn how beer is made and even teach people how to pour the perfect beer. Every Saturday, there is a historical play called “In the Shadows” where you meet Cascade’s founder, Peter Degraves’ wife, Sophia Degraves. Although Cascade Brewery offers a range of hand-crafted beverages, they also have a restaurant that is crafted to match the beers and ciders.
Hobart Brewing Co. is an independent brewery located on the Hobart waterfront. It’s also home to Hobart’s largest beer garden, a pool table, a fire pit and various food trucks. Their brewery features 18 taps that contain beers, limited editions, seasonal releases and a few guest taps.
Deep South Brewing Co. is only a 15-minute walk from Hobart CBD. Their hand-crafted beers are all named after islands off the southern coast Tasmania; plus, they have 12 rotating taps that offer American and European-style beers. Their menu includes pizzas, meaty mains, sides and desserts that are catered for all dietaries.
Situated right on Salamanca Place and in the heart of Hobart CBD, Moo Brew’s Manky Sally’s is known for its taphouse, luxury dive bar and nano-brewery. Their menu includes Tassie-themed pub classics such as wallaby rump steak and venison cheeseburgers. Moo Brew beers and Moorilla wines are available for purchase. They also offer tours around the brewery, which requires a booking.
