Description
Women of the Southwest will showcase a powerful collection of Dionne Doig’s images demonstrating the depth, resilience, and beauty of feminine identity through a unique lens.
On display in the Bond Store Gallery at the Old Courthouse Complex from 24 April to 19 May, this evocative photography exhibition represents the raw, untamed beauty of women interwoven with landscapes, textures, and symbolic elements reflecting personal narratives.
Doig’s artistic journey began as a birth doula, where she developed a profound sensitivity to the unspoken language of the body - expressions of surrender, resistance, and transformation.
This awareness now informs her work, which transcends traditional portraiture to reveal reclamation, embodiment, and self-expression.
Her work invites viewers on an exploration of identity, sensuality, and sovereignty - where each image becomes a mirror of embodied truth.
This exhibition provides a unique opportunity to behold the power of contemporary photographic storytelling while celebrating the strength and presence of women in the Southwest.
Women of the Southwest’s opening function will be held on Saturday, 26 April from 1pm to 2.30pm, offering visitors the opportunity to admire Doig’s work in an intimate setting.
