In Stillness the Dancing

The program alternates works of emotional depth and introspection with the brilliance and joyfulness of dances. Haydn’s profound final composition for solo piano, Variations in F minor Hob. XVII:6, and Liszt’s soul-searching journey in La Vallee d' Obermann contrast with the high Romantic panache of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s ‘Three Fours’ Valse Suite Op. 71 and the life-affirming vigour of Alberto Ginastera’s Danzas Argentinas Op. 2.
